The International Zaafrane Festival gathers nature and sports lovers in the heart of the Tunisian Sahara

Date:
Thursday, February 1, 2018 to Saturday, February 3, 2018

In the heart of the desert, 10km from Douz, the International Zaafrane Festival will take place on February 1st, 2nd and 3rd and will attract all nature lovers.

DromaCity will organize this festival in collaboration with DromaCity Sahara in the middle of an authentic scenery in the Zaafrane village, 10km far from Douz. This unique village has a calming yet exciting vibe; simple and beautiful. During 3 days, this oasis in the Tunisian Sahara will welcome participants with a colorful parade animated by camels and traditional music that mark the start of this one of a kind experience.

Sports and adrenaline lovers will be pleased with many activities in the heart of the desert such as a baton/balloon tournament and a speed race. But one of the highlights of the event will be the dromathlon, a new marathon concept where the jockey and the camel run 21km before giving the relay baton to their teammate who is going to run the same distance.

For those who prefer a calm escapade, poetry performances are on the agenda, as well as the group “Ammoun” who will play traditional Bedouin music. Nothing better than art to fully appreciate the beauty of the Sahara and the authenticity of the village.

In addition to all these activities, conferences will take place to highlight the importance of cameline culture.

To finish those 3 exciting days, the festival planned a magical last night around a bonfire, with traditional tea and music under the stars in the beautiful Tunisian desert.
